The Rest of March

Most mornings I've been making green smoothies and Tyler always demands some... so for sure, I mostly make them so he gets some extra fruits and veggies in!  He usually drinks his with a straw, but one morning he drank straight from the cup- he was left looking a little Tony Stark-esque:

In his excitement over going to college, Bryson ordered a BYU-Idaho t-shirt, so now, he and Tyler are twinners!

Daddy and Jace went up for a day of skiing at Silver:

Jace was pretty impressed that he could balance on my exercise ball:

Because of the extensive ophthalmologic history amongst my kids, even those without eye issues need a thorough exam every few years.  Jace had his exam and did NOT like being dilated at all:

Tyler was eager for an exam though:

We got a dusting of snow and Tyler was pretty excited to go out and play in it:
No matter how much I tried to deter him and explain that there wasn't enough to eat it, he also ate a bunch of it by licking it directly off the deck *gag*

Kristi and Matt came up for their spring break and stayed with us for a few days- they def had a lot of screen time together, but they also did a lot of what ever this is:

These curls:

So one morning Nathan was at work and the kids were all at school- it was just Tyler and I at home which, believe it or not, ends up being fairly quiet... but this morning I kept hearing this weird noise... coming from the basement.  Like someone slowly but intermittently knocking on a window with one knuckle.  To be honest, I was a little freaked out to go down there to check it out having NO idea what I was going to find.  I about died when this is what I discovered:
A tom turkey in full strut mode and pecking at that annoyingly handsome competing tom who just kept pecking back at him!  Tyler and I watched him for a bit (and recorded him too!) and then as we approached the window and he saw us, all of his bravado disappeared and he took off running.  He's returned several times when Nathan and the kids were home so they got to witness it too, it's really pretty funny to watch.

I may or may not have had a spy at Eli's first stake dance:

During the 'ladies choice' dance, Dallin got asked to dance by a girl taller than he was... he asked her what her name was and when she told him "Megan", he suddenly realized it was Megan Zapalac all grown up! *grin*

Oh my... My brother Scott- he's one of the funniest guys I know.  He randomly sent Nathan this shirt:
How Nathan sees me vs. how 'you' see me

Tyler snuggling and getting tickled by Papa:

Tyler recently discovered he can climb up into the 'Hot Shot' basketball game... then he can snuggle with both his blankie AND basketballs!  What could be better?!?
It doesn't work so well when the game is closed up though...

Knowledge Bowl and Golf

Bryson has participated in Knowledge Bowl all 4 years of high school- pretty cool that they took 1st place for our region and qualified for State his senior year!  They ended up taking 7th place over all.  From the weekly school newsletter:

Pretty cool that while Papa Cotton was in town Dallin and Bryson both qualified to play in a golf tourney together and Papa was able to drive out and watch them play- He even took pictures for me!!

Grandma and Papa's Visit!

It's been a fun few weeks!  Kristi and Matt visited and left just in time for Grandma and Papa to arrive and a few days after they left we left for Mexico!

Tyler loved wearing Papa's shoes anytime he could find them:

Coming home from my parents house one night we happened upon a truck pulling a fifth-wheel trailer that had some kind of engine fire... it was crazy how fast the fire spread from the engine compartment to the truck and then the trailer!

Papa brought a new game for us called Just One- The kids had fun playing with him:

Science Fair!  Grandma and I went to check out the kids projects- Jace researched hurricanes:

Eli was nowhere to be found, but we did find his project on solar:

As a sixth grader, Hailee doesn't do a science fair project, instead they build and launch rockets at the end of the school year.

Tyler was low-riding one morning...
They ain't kidding when they say 8-12 pounds, that's all those things will hold!! *wink*

We had some gorgeous and warm days while Grandma and Papa were here so we enjoyed being outside on Sunday afternoon and playing a friendly game of kickball:

Tyler's Two Year Old MRI

Bright and early we were up and to the hospital with a hungry TyTy for his second MRI of his brain.  It really was another baseline MRI so it was pretty low key going in.  Since he got to be basically naked with his blankie and paci beforehand, he was all smiles going in:

But not so much coming out *sigh*

Once the meds wore off he was loving life again, especially since he got snacks and juice and to just hang out with mom for awhile at the hospital until the appointment with peds neurology:

Feeling like a big kid sitting by himself with his snacks:

Mimi watched him that afternoon for a bit while me met with our accountant and it was business as usual for Ty!

Jace's Wrestling Season

Eli has given up wrestling, but Jace still loves it!  After practicing twice a week for several weeks, it was finally time for tournaments!  He's always been fairly confident and dominant- winning far more matches than he looses... so it was pretty tough for him to swallow loosing twice in a row at his first tournament of the season- both matches were pretty evenly matched- the first was a tie 6-6, but since his opponent had scored the first points, Jace lost.  His second match he lost on points 9-12.  Both matches Jace fought so hard and didn't quit, which I was so proud of him for.

He was pretty emotional afterwards.  We talked for a bit, but then I just let him process and about the time we were getting home, he told me he was ok... he said that wrestling was supposed to be fun and it's ok that the other kids were better than him.  I was so proud of him for his good attitude.

He made up for it the next weekend with a gold, pinning his first opponent in 40 seconds and beating the kid who had won on points the week before 18-11!  It was seriously the toughest fought match- they were both so exhausted at the end.  But it was worth it for the gold!!

His fellow gold medalist and wrestling buddy Orrin, along with Coach Hawk:

The following Saturday we showed up for the tournament at West Valley, got all weighed in and while we were waiting {for f.o.r.e.v.e.r) for the tourney to start, Jace started to not feel well.  At ALL.  I wondered if he just didn't want to wrestle for some reason because he went from acting totally normal to suddenly fighting back tears... regardless, I let him call it and we headed home... and he promptly puked in the car.  And puked.  And puked.  Poor guy!

Fortunately he was all better for the last tourney of the season which was all the way in Pomeroy- Grandma and Papa Cotton were in town so Daddy and Papa went with Jace- he won silver:

He wanted a picture with all of his medals from all of his seasons:
I love how hard he fights- he just doesn't quit... that, combined with his speed, make him such a good wrestler- he's so fun to watch!  I hope he sticks with it!
