Happy mother's birthday!

Sunday was mother's day AND Hailee's 3rd birthday!

I'm pretty sure she didn't understand what her birthday meant before Sunday, but she does now!  As soon as I mentioned 'presents' she was on board.  She desperately needed summer clothes so I got her some shorts and shirts and skirts and dresses and she was in h.e.a.v.e.n. pulling each thing out of the bag.  She promptly chose a princess shirt to wear, no surprise there!  We put candles on her pancakes for her to practice blowing out...
Love the hair??  It's especially bad first thing in the morning, but I battle with it all day.

We let her open the rest of her presents after church when my family was here for dinner...

My mom volunteered to make an ice cream cake- with the heat we've been having the past few weeks I was all for it!

So cute, my friend Emily is Hailee's music leader in the nursery at church. She played a little game with the kids of "name that mommy." She recorded each of the moms singing a little song to see if their kids could identify their mom!  She told me that when she played the recording of me singing, Hailee immediately jumped up and started looking for me... under the table, behind the door, and she was saying "mama?" over and over... Emily tried explaining to her that my voice was coming from the speaker, but Hailee didn't believe her!

This little princess is definitely not the calm quiet girl that she was as a baby!  She knows what she wants and what she likes, and there are lots of tears if anything different happens.  I've said for a while that she likes girly things (such as princesses and make up, NOT baby dolls and stuffed animals!), but plays like a boy...  She loves to change her clothes and especially pick out her own outfits.  Most mornings she is in the bathroom with me mimicking me as I put on my make up.  She also loves "ba-ball" (basketball) and constantly is going out to the garage to get one to 'shoot' around the house.

Hailee's favorites at age 3... kinda hard to do, because she is pretty difficult to understand still:

Favorite Color: "yie-boo" (light blue)
Favorite Restaurant: "yi-boom"(??)  I don't think she really gets the question- cuz I think she's saying "kitchen"
Favorite Food: "tow-bee" (strawberry)
Favorite Drink: "coh wa" (cold water)
Favorite thing to do: I'm guessing it's getting dressed/changing clothes
Best Friend: "E-ya, Dah-in, Bi-din" (Eli, Dallin, Bryson- so sweet!)
Favorite Movie: ?? She just watches whatever her brothers are watching
Favorite TV Show: "Ba-bow" (Elmo, ie: Sesame Street)
Favorite Toy: She sure loves her purse!
Favorite Animal: I'll guess a frog or "das"- but she usually refers to it as a "ba-dite ba-dite" (ribbit ribbit)- her favorite shirt has a frog on it.  For sure it's not a dog because she is terrified of dogs.
Favorite Book: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle- it's the book she brought to me anyway...
What she wants to be when she grows up: probably NOT a mommy, seeing as how she doesn't really like babies *wink*

Random April

I always have so many random pictures... not worthy of an individual blog post (I'm lazy) but cute and/or memorable nonetheless- or I wouldn't have taken the picture!  So here's April summed up:

For some forgotten reason I explained to Hailee that this picture on the wall was her when she was a baby... since she loathes babies altogether, you can imagine how upset that made her- she didn't even want to look at it!

Yes, I think she still needs naps, but I choose not to battle with her to take one daily.  Regardless, 3-4 times per week I find her sleeping in random places, usually after a semi-frantic search through the house to find her...

One day after school, while I was waiting for the boys, I spotted them across the playground- holding hands... too sweet.

She reminded me of Bonnie from Toy Story 3 this day... with the boots and tutu and all:

He loves to point... at whatever.  Often times when I'm nursing him, he'll suddenly pull off and just point across the room as he babbles...

He is sure getting into everything!  He was mad because he couldn't reach the remote on the floor...

Just a cute hair day:

Eli had to come with us to an eye appointment for Hailee (no more patching for now, yay!!) and he decided to perch up on this stool and meditate...

This picture doesn't do justice the m.e.s.s. she was post freshly baked chocolate chip cookie consumption

Standing up like a pro in his crib... needless to say, I lowered the mattress after I took this picture...

Unlike his sister, Jace loves dogs- we dog-sat for my sister Kristi and also my parents while they were out of town.
All my boys were in heaven, Hailee was not.  She developed a tolerance for them, but was never very relaxed when the dogs were around.
