Bryson-ism

Tonight at dinner...

Bryson: We have a book in the library at school that has a few words that Abraham Lincoln said.  But it's actual name is, Just A Few Words of Mr. Lincoln.  It's really not a few words though, it's a LOT of words.  Like 43 pages of just words.  That's more than a few.

Older Than Dirt

This morning over breakfast...

Bryson: Mom, when was your birthday?
Me: My birthday is next month...
Bryson: No, I mean, when were you born, what year?
Me: 1980
Bryson: WOW!  That was a LONG time ago.
Me: {speechless}
Bryson: Mom, when you were a kid, was it like it is now?
Me: What do you mean?
Bryson: I mean, was it just sand... everywhere?
Me: huh?
Bryson (completely serious): Well, were cars invented yet?

Seriously?  He thought I was older than pretty much anything known to man besides SAND?  It was perfect poetic justice I'm sure when I told my mom about my conversation with Bryson.  The funny thing is, I totally remember as a kid thinking my mom was SO old... I really thought that everything (not just the tv) when she was a kid was black and white- just like the pictures.

Little Photographers

On these deary extended winter/non-spring days, the boys love to take pictures with my camera.... I love seeing the 500 pictures they take of random household objects that I have to delete one by one by one by one...

Some of Bryson's pictures:
 Legos (what else?)
 His knee
What the?  What do I put for a caption on this lovely?

And now Dallins pictures:
 A self portrait
I'm pretty sure we were having a dance party...
 His shoes
I sure hope the flash didn't go off on this one... ouch!

February in a nutshell

With all our frequent trips to the hospital to check Dallin's bloodwork, we've been pretty busy.  That and it's been too cold to do anything.  Eli came upstairs to me one day with this pencil behind his ear...
I asked him if he was Bob the Builder, he cocked his head to the side and said, "mOm!, no seaw-ee (silly), I ELI the beo-dur (builder)".  And FYI, that paper he's got in his hand is an actual 'To Do List.'  He makes me laugh so much.

I've been playing with Hailee's hair...
It's really starting to come in curly- I hope it stays that way!
Of course I can't take a picture of Hailee with out her biggest fans jumping in the shot!

Despite the snow and freezing temperatures, we've tried to get out a little-
Doesn't she look thrilled?  A regular snow bunny.

Really, sometimes I wonder why I buy toys...
The little flap of peeling paper on the side of this box kept her busy for almost half an hour.

She practicing her "you are so dumb" look for when she's a teenager.  I think she's got it down pretty well.

She is really starting to get mobile- not quite crawling, but so close- she can get from all fours to sitting and back to all fours so quickly...
And when she's really focusing, she gets her tongue going too...
Anytime she's on the floor, she immediately pivots to the side, as if she's just gonna take off crawling.  I know it's gonna happen one of these times... *sigh*

We decorated some Valentines Day cookies of course-
Eli quickly pointed to the pink frosting and said, "Ewww, that's for gee-urls (girls)!" and then promptly started frosting his cookie with it.  Once he finished frosting his cookie, he bypassed the cookie altogether and scooped the frosting right into his mouth with his 'knife'.
