Bryson You're Hot....

I made the mistake of teaching the boys the cheer, "Bryson you're hot, make that shot!"  They say it incessantly now...

Bryson is playing Upward Basketball... Nathan is his coach and they are having a blast.  Both Nathan and I are so impressed by the Upward program as a whole- such a great experience and totally positive!  The kids get to run through this inflatable tunnel with fog and music as their names are called, and the crowd is on either side  so when the kids run through, they slap hands of everyone on either side- it's pretty awesome.

The boys had a pretty great season, they won every game except for one!

Random February

February happenings...

Eli sure loves Jace:

 Cheese cake stuffed strawberries...
 Oh yes.

My  bathtime visitor:
She had my undivided attention and had lots to say... even if I didn't understand a word!

A night at a hotel... watching a movie in bed while eating popcorn...
It was the first time we'd done it since Eli's seizures almost a year ago... it wasn't without some anxiety on mine and Nathan's part!

He keeps pulling that leg to the side like he's going to start crawling... and even pushing up onto all fours...

A few 'warm' sunny days have caught us outside...
we're ready for spring!

Just not the same with straight hair!

Little Big 5 Year Old

He just might be the littlest BIG five year old ever.  But not in his head, that's for sure!  In the past few months he's really gotten into Lego's (which makes Bryson sooo happy!)  So for his birthday he decided he wanted a Lego Ninjago cake and cookies- they're basically ninja's, so my boys think they're awesome:

I was very happy with how the cookies turned out...
Not as much the cake... I needed a bigger tip for the frosting, but didn't feel like going out for it.
Eli thought that it was pretty cool though, and that's all that matters!

This was our 'family party' year, so my parents came over and we sang to him and opened presents and ate cake.  It was nice.
And even though Bryson had his scout shirt, he never made it to scouts that night- once Lego's were opened it was all over.  Eli's friend Emerson brought over a Lego Transformer which Eli put together *almost* completely by himself! I loved seeing his little mind processing how each step went.

The next day at school, I was the helper and he got to be the leader and bring the ninjago cookies.  He was pretty excited.  And I loved that the kids (mostly only the boys) even knew what the cookies were!

Eli is a character; he is always cracking us up, even when he should be in trouble!  But beneath that silly goofy exterior though is a very sensitive boy... right now, he's in a really emotional phase, not my favorite, cuz it's rather over the top and irrational most the time!  He can be incredibly mischievous and even downright dishonest on occasion, but in such a clever way... the other day at lunch he was complaining that it was taking too long to eat his sandwich (he wanted a brownie but had to finish his sandwich first)- he hadn't even started the second half when I went upstairs to change Jace, so I was very surprised when I hadn't even gotten Jace's diaper off when Eli appeared, eating a brownie, claiming he'd finished his sandwich!  So when I went downstairs and hovered my hand above the garbage can, the expression on his face said it all... Sure enough, the other half of his sandwich was right in there.  It's so hard to follow through with discipline when he screws his face up and his voice gets all high pitched...  Oh the drama!

His catch phrases right now are, "got it!" and "this is taking for-yever"

He's pretty much my worst eater, at least at dinner time- he takes f.o.r.e.v.e.r. to eat and whines the whole time about it.  Ugh. It's not fun for anyone.

Eli is very confident in himself and what he likes- he went through a "My Little Pony" phase and no amount of Bryson teasing him could change his mind... (in all fairness, he did think Rainbow Dash was a boy!)

He still thinks he's every bit as big as his big brothers, I'm not about to tell him otherwise... besides, I'm sure he wouldn't listen anyway!  He and Dallin play so good together- they love to pretend all sorts of things... they're ninjas, Mario Bros, My Little Ponies- it goes on and on.  Much to Bryson's delight, he's also really getting into Lego's- he loves Ninjago especially.  He loves to 'play' with Jace- and about half the time Jace enjoys it...

Eli's favorites at age five-

Favorite Color: light blue
Favorite Restaurant: Burger King
Favorite Food: Hot Dogs
Favorite Drink: 7 Up
Favorite thing to do: Play outside
Best Friend: Emerson and Megan (he readily admits Megan is his girlfriend and that he loves her!)
Favorite Movie: Madagascar 3
Favorite TV Show:  Sonic
Favorite Toy: the remote control car he got for his birthday
Favorite Animal: a Zebra
Favorite Book: Clifford We Love You
What he wants to be when he grows up: a firefighter, actually a police officer, actually a worker, actually what do's dad do?  That, I want to do what dad do's.

Free Entertainment

My kids l.o.v.e. it when I turn the viewfinder on the camcorder around so they can see themselves on it... so today I hooked the camcorder up to the tv and left it on standby- and Hailee was entertained for 20 minutes, dancing around and jumping around- it was adorable.  She does this little dance when she's excited where she skips/prances around with one arm straight up and the other arm down- cracks me up every time.
She's wearing her one of her princess dresses she got for Christmas.  She basically changes her clothes about 5 (sometimes as many as 10) times a day.  Generally she'll just change the princess dress, but often it's a complete wardrobe change.  At least once a week she'll be all ready for the day in what I picked out for her and then as we're getting in the car, she'll disappear and I'll find her changed into what SHE wanted to wear all along- and what can I do?  We have to go!  She's got it all figured out.
